The Wheel of Change Tarot was originally published by Inner Traditions/Bear in 1997. There were LOTS of reviews done about the deck/book box set shortly after it was released. Besides one memorable negative review by Frank Jensen of Scandinavia, who held it up as an example of what was wrong with all modern American tarot decks, the reviews have been quite positive overall. However, the bottom link in the list below points to a long discussion on the Aeclectic Tarot forum starting in 2004, the opening subject being "Cranky and ranting" on the Wheel of Change Tarot. Over those 9 pages the deck is carefully examined, both pro and con (with a lot of con, quite interesting however).
We often receive emails from people who appreciate the work Alexandra has done. Here is one such note, received in May of '98:
Hello Alexandra,
I cannot tell you the pleasure & delight your deck brings. It's stunning, rich, and visually exquisite..it's vibrant, alive, whole, at peace with itself, solid, flowing, melodious, and I can FEEL the cards. It's stimulating, soothing, joyous, rhythmic, musical...and it's so satisfying to hold a deck in my hands that was obviously so LOVED into being. It's multicultural without condescension. It holds the old/the new, crosses boundaries, leaps, joins/juxtaposes, and with a connected-ness that bridges in such an effortless, NATURAL way.
I adore the colors, simply for their blend & "joie de vivre". And the border colors for each of the suits/Majors is wonderful! Certainly helps in readings. I think this deck has sound...I never HEARD a deck before!!!??
Anyway, you must be so proud. I haven't spent very much time with it to speak of (I've only had it a coupla days), but already I know it's special.
So, thank you so much. - Pamela W.
